On March 17, 2020, due to the recent COVID – 19 pandemic, Mayor Evans issued, signed and filed a “Declaration of Local State of Disaster Due to Public Health Emergency for the City of Overton” in the office of the City Secretary pursuant the Texas Government Code 418.108. This “Declaration” was needed so that the City of Overton can be eligible for Federal funding if needed to fight COVID-19 Virus. This declaration will also limit the number of people at public gatherings to 50 or less, which is currently recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The declaration is only good for seven (7) days as issued by the Mayor. In order to extend the declaration, Council must take official action.
