Request for Disclosure of Information

The legislature recently passed House Bill 872 that protects city utility customer’s information from public disclosure. The prior law regarding utility customer information gave a customer the option of keeping their utility account information confidential by notifying the city, as the account information was deemed to be public. This new bill reverses the situation and makes all customer information confidential, but a customer must be given the option to now notify the city if they want their account information to be publicly released if requested.
